The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) has extended the deadline for students to register for the Madhyamik Pariksha 2026. The board will reopen the online registration portal for students who could not register earlier due to school-level issues. This decision aims to ensure that no eligible student is left out from appearing in the exam.
The online portal will be open for registration from January 27, 2026, at 12 pm to January 28, 2026, at 12 pm . This is a second chance for students who faced problems during the initial registration period.
The Madhyamik exams for 2026 are scheduled to be held between February 2 and February 12, 2026 . The exams will be conducted in the traditional pen-and-paper format.
The board has taken this step after observing that many students did not receive their admit cards. This was due to errors or issues at the school level during the enrollment process. The WBBSE released the WB Madhyamik admit cards for already registered students on January 24, 2026.
Registration Details
Students who were eligible but could not complete their registration through their schools now have an opportunity to do so. They must ensure they meet the eligibility criteria, which include passing the Selection/Test Examination with at least 70 per cent attendance.
The State Education Minister, Bratya Basu, stated that the portal is being reopened so that all eligible students can take the exam. The board also mentioned that it would take appropriate action against schools that reported lapses in the enrollment process.
Students who manage to register during this extended period will receive their hall tickets on January 29, 2026, between 1 pm and 5 pm. This special provision is only for registered, continuing, or compartmental students who were eligible but missed the deadline due to school-related problems.
The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education is responsible for conducting the Madhyamik examinations, which are equivalent to Class 10 board exams in the state.
