Understanding the Counselling Process

The counselling process for WB ANM and GNM 2025 involves several key steps. Students must complete each step carefully to get a seat in their chosen nursing college. The entire process takes place online.

1. Registration and Choice Filling

  • Step 1: Go Online: Students must first visit the official WBJEEB website.
  • Step 2: Register: On the website, they need to register for counselling. This includes providing basic personal details, contact information, and their ANM/GNM examination rank.
  • Step 3: Pay Fee: There will be a registration fee that students must pay online to complete their registration.
  • Step 4: Choose Colleges: After registration and fee payment, students can fill in their choices of colleges. They can list the colleges where they want to study nursing. It is important to list colleges in order of preference, from most wanted to least wanted. Students can choose many colleges.

This stage is very important as the choices filled by students will directly affect their seat allotment.

2. Seat Allotment

After all students have finished registering and filling their college choices, the WBJEEB will process the data. They will then release the seat allotment result. This result will be available on the official WBJEEB portal. Seats are given based on several factors:

  • The student's merit rank in the ANM/GNM examination.
  • The colleges the student chose and their order of preference.
  • The number of available seats in each college.
  • Reservation rules set by the government (for different categories of students).

Students will see which college and course they have been allotted. If a student is happy with the allotted seat, they can proceed to the next step.

3. Reporting to the College

Students who are allotted a seat and wish to accept it must complete a few final steps:

  • Step 1: Accept Seat: Students usually need to pay a small fee online to confirm and accept their allotted seat. This is called the seat acceptance fee.
  • Step 2: Collect Documents: After accepting the seat, students must gather all necessary original documents. These include their ANM/GNM rank card, admit card, mark sheets of qualifying exams, age proof, caste certificate (if applicable), domicile certificate, and passport-size photographs.
  • Step 3: Report to College: Finally, students must go to the college they have been allotted within the given timeframe. They need to carry all their original documents for verification. The college authorities will check these documents. If everything is correct, the admission process will be completed.

The counselling process usually includes two main rounds. If seats remain vacant after these rounds, a 'mop-up' round may be held to fill the remaining spots. Students should regularly check the official WBJEEB website for the latest updates, exact dates, and detailed instructions for each stage of counselling.
