Vice President CP Radhakrishnan officially opened the GKNM Group College of Nursing in Coimbatore on October 1, 2023 . He stated that quality healthcare and education are essential for a developed nation.
New Nursing College Opens in Coimbatore
The new college represents a contribution to public service in healthcare and education. The Vice President highlighted the GKNM Group’s growth since its founding. It began as a 50-bed hospital in 1952. It is now a 750-bed multi-specialty hospital.
The group has also expanded its educational offerings. This includes schools and higher education institutions. The Vice President noted this growth reflects a vision of service. He urged new healthcare students to work with confidence and dedication.
Healthcare Education and Nation Building
Vice President Radhakrishnan connected the college opening to national development goals. He mentioned the Ayushman Bharat program. This program provides health insurance. Nearly 44 crore people have received coverage up to ₹5 Lakh.
He stated this shows India’s commitment to public health. The GKNM Group’s work aligns with these ideals. He believes the nursing college will produce competent professionals. These professionals will contribute to nation-building.
The Vice President congratulated the GKNM Group’s trustees, management, faculty, and staff. He expressed hope that the G Kuppuswamy Naidu Charitable Trust will establish a medical college. This college would train doctors for underserved populations.
Tamil Nadu Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar and R Gopinath also attended the inauguration. Other dignitaries were present.
