Indian students looking to study Engineering abroad have a new opportunity. VIT Mauritius has opened admissions for its February 2026 and August 2026 intakes. This is a chance to study at an international campus of one of India's leading Engineering institutions. The university is offering four main Engineering courses, including popular fields like Computer Engineering with specialisations and Civil Engineering. A key advantage for students is the option to get a three-year work permit in Mauritius after they finish their studies. Students can also work part-time while they are studying.

Mauritius: A Growing Study Destination

Mauritius is an island nation known for its natural beauty and growing economy. It is becoming a popular choice for international students, especially from India. The country offers a safe and peaceful environment for studies. English is widely used, making it easier for Indian students to adapt. Studying in Mauritius can provide students with international exposure and a chance to experience a new culture, while also staying relatively close to India.

Engineering Courses Offered at VIT Mauritius

VIT Mauritius, a branch of a top Indian Engineering university, is offering degrees in important and new fields. These programs focus on areas like Artificial Intelligence and Data Science. The four Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) courses open for admission are:

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Computer Engineering
  • Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Computer Engineering with Data Science specialisation
  • Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Computer Engineering with Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning specialisation
  • Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Civil Engineering

Fees and Entry Rules for Courses

The annual fee for all these courses is €5,000 . Students can pay this fee in two parts. To be eligible for these Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) programs, students need to meet specific academic requirements from their Class 12 or equivalent examinations.

Firstly, students must show they have good English skills. This means they should have studied English at the Higher Secondary level (like HSC, A-level, Form VI, or Senior VI) or they must have attended an English-medium school for their studies. Secondly, Mathematics and Physics are compulsory subjects, meaning students must have studied these in Class 12. For the third subject, students can choose from Chemistry, Computer Sciences, Electronics, or Biotechnology. Lastly, students must achieve a minimum total of 55% marks across these three main subjects (Mathematics, Physics, and the third chosen subject) in their Class 12 exams. If a school provides grade points instead of marks, an official document showing the equivalent marks must be submitted along with the application.

Here is a summary of the courses and their annual tuition fees:

Course Name Annual Tuition Fee
Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Computer Engineering€5,000
Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Computer Engineering with Data Science specialisation€5,000
Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Computer Engineering with Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning specialisation€5,000

Post-Study Work Permit and Part-Time Jobs

One of the biggest benefits for students at VIT Mauritius is the opportunity to stay and work in the country after graduation. The university announced that students can apply for a three-year post-study work permit for Mauritius. This permit allows graduates to search for jobs and gain work experience in Mauritius for up to three years. This can be a valuable step for their career. Moreover, students are allowed to work part-time during their study period. This helps them manage their living expenses and gain practical skills alongside their academic learning.

Scholarships and Education Loan Options

VIT Mauritius offers financial help to Indian students through scholarships. These scholarships are given based on a student's academic performance (merit) or their financial need. Students can also apply for an education loan from ICICI Bank to help cover their study costs. These options aim to make studying abroad more accessible for Indian students.
