Virat Kohli is always the talk of the town in India. He is one of the greatest batsmen Indian cricket has ever produced. It is intriguing to know why a legend like him announced his retirement from the longest format of cricket that is test cricket. Speculations continue after this big retirement announcement. Here are the possible reasons:
- Dealing with nonstop travel and playing every damn format for years— that'll wipe out anyone, even the legends.
- Maybe he’s just burned out, wants to chill with his family, not live out of a suitcase 24/7.
- Honestly, at some point, focusing on the big-ticket stuff like ODIs and just makes sense. Why kill yourself for Tests when there’s all that action and glory in the shorter games?
- And may be he’s just making way for the next gen—letting some hungry young guns have a shot at Test cricket.
- Kohli also pointed out that he he to travel a lot with his wife Anushkha Sharma, Indian actress.

It must be noted that Kohli's recent performance in Test Cricket has also not been upto the mark. In the Border-Gavaskar trophy, when Indian travelled to Austrialia, Kohli's peeformance was below average as he could score only one century and averaged poor.
