The application window for the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) National Defence Academy (NDA) & Naval Academy (NA) (I) 2026 examination is open. This recruitment drive aims to fill 394 vacancies for officer posts in the Indian Armed Forces.
Application Deadline and Exam Date
Interested candidates must submit their applications online by December 30, 2025 . The written examination is scheduled for April 12, 2026 .
Vacancies and Eligibility
A total of 394 candidates will be recruited. This includes 370 male and 24 female candidates.
Age Requirements
Candidates born between 2007 and 2010 are eligible. The age requirement is between 16.5 and 19.5 years as of July 1, 2027. Applicants must be unmarried.
Educational Qualifications
Candidates must have passed or be appearing for their Class 12 examinations. For entry into the Navy, Air Force, and Naval Academy, proficiency in Physics and Mathematics in Class 12 is mandatory. Students appearing for their final exams can apply but must provide proof of passing by the stipulated date.
Application Fee
The application fee is Rs. 100 for male candidates (General/OBC). Female candidates and those belonging to SC/ST categories are exempt from the application fee.
Selection Process
The selection process involves three stages: a written test, the Services Selection Board (SSB) interview, and a medical examination. The written test features objective-type questions. Incorrect answers incur negative marking.

The NDA & NA examination is a primary pathway for students to join the Indian Armed Forces after completing Class 12. It provides direct entry into officer training courses at the National Defence Academy and Naval Academy.
