UP Schools Reopen June 16: Dates, Timings & Prep Guide

Schools across Uttar Pradesh are reopening this week following the summer break. Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Council schools will resume classes on June 16 . PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalayas will begin their new academic session on June 18 .

Students and parents should prepare for the return to school. Essential items like uniforms, school bags, shoes, and books may need to be purchased.

School Reopening Details

The Basic Education Department’s calendar indicates summer vacation for council schools ran from May 20 to June 15. Regular classes will recommence on June 16 for upper primary schools statewide.

In Meerut district alone, over 1,000 council schools serve a large student population. Upon reopening, schools will reinstate daily activities. These include prayer meetings, sports, library services, and the midday meal program.

The Basic Education Department has instructed schools to ensure facilities are ready. This includes cleanliness, student enrollment checks, attendance tracking, and preparation of teaching materials. Schools must also confirm adequate drinking water, functioning fans, and student seating for the summer and upcoming monsoon seasons.

PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalayas Schedule

PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalayas will open their doors on June 18 . These schools, part of the Kendriya Vidyalayas Sangathan, concluded their summer vacation on May 8. Classes will start on June 18.

Students attending PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalayas in Punjab Lines, Sikh Lines, and Dogra Lines within the Meerut Cantonment area will return on this date. These institutions are reportedly prepared for the new academic session.

Other Schools and Yoga Day

Many Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) schools are also reopening. Most private and CBSE-affiliated schools in the district have concluded their summer holidays. Reopening will occur in phases throughout June.

School administrations are distributing timetables and essential instructions to students and parents. This week also marks preparations for International Yoga Day. NCC cadets and students from various schools are practicing yoga. Training sessions are underway to ensure successful participation in large-scale yoga demonstrations planned for the event.

Parents are advised to check children’s school supplies before reopening. This includes verifying uniforms, school bags, shoes, water bottles, and study materials. This ensures a smooth start to the new academic year for students of Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Council schools and PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalayas.
