The Uttar Pradesh Directorate General of Medical Education and Training (DGME) has barred 71 candidates from the UP NEET UG counselling process for the 2026-27 academic year. The state's counselling registration closes on August 12, 2026, at 5 PM .
These candidates were penalized for failing to join their allotted medical or dental seats. The DGME also took action against those who left courses after paying fees or discontinued their MBBS/BDS programs mid-study.
Counselling Rules and Consequences
DGME guidelines state that candidates not joining seats during the stray vacancy round will forfeit their security deposit. They will also be barred from future UP NEET UG counselling. This rule applies to both government and private medical and dental colleges.
Students who abandon an MBBS or BDS seat after the final counselling round without completing the course will face a ban from the admission process for the following academic year.
