What to Do After Getting a Seat: Reporting Rules

If you have been offered a seat, you need to follow certain rules and steps to confirm your admission. These steps are important and must be completed by the given deadlines. Failing to follow these rules can lead to losing your seat.

Important Reporting Dates

All candidates who have received a seat in Round 1 must report to their allotted medical college. The reporting window is from December 1 to December 5, 2025 . During this period, you must go to the college with all necessary documents and complete the admission formalities.

Steps for Reporting to College

When you report to the allotted institute, you must bring a printed copy of your seat allotment letter. This letter proves that you have been offered a seat. You will also need to carry original documents, such as your NEET PG scorecard, mark sheets, identity proof, and caste certificate (if applicable). The college staff will check your documents. You will also need to pay the admission fee to confirm your seat. Complete all these steps carefully to secure your admission.

Understanding Your Options After Allotment

After checking your seat allotment result, you have different options depending on your satisfaction with the offered seat. It is important to understand each option clearly.

1. Accepting the Allotted Seat

If you are happy with the seat you received, you must accept it. This means paying the required fees and completing all reporting steps at the allotted college. By accepting the seat and reporting, you confirm your admission to that specific MD/MS course and college for the 2025 academic year. Once you accept and report, you generally cannot participate in further rounds for that same seat.

2. Opting for an Upgrade

Some students might get a seat but wish for a better college or course. If you are not fully satisfied, you can choose to "upgrade" your seat. To do this, you must still report to the college allotted in Round 1 and state your wish to upgrade. You will then fill fresh choices for Round 2 counselling. This means you hope for a different seat in the next round. If you get an upgraded seat in Round 2, your Round 1 seat will be given to another student. If you do not get an upgrade, you keep your Round 1 seat.

3. Taking a Free Exit

If you are not interested in the seat offered in Round 1 and do not wish to participate in further UP NEET PG 2025 counselling rounds, you can choose a "free exit." This means you do not accept the seat, and you do not report to the college. However, choosing a free exit means you will not be allowed to join any future rounds of counselling for UP NEET PG 2025. This option is for students who do not want the allotted seat and prefer not to continue in the UP state counselling process.
