Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched the second phase of the School Chalo Abhiyan in Saharanpur on Wednesday. The initiative aims for 100 percent school enrollment for the new academic session.
Education Foundation
The Chief Minister stressed education's importance for individual and national development. He stated that quality education builds responsible citizens. It prepares children for careers as doctors, engineers, and entrepreneurs. The campaign seeks to provide every child access to learning. This will occur in a safe and supportive school environment.
Campaign Origins and Improvements
The School Chalo Abhiyan began in 2017 . Its goal was to improve education for all children equally. In 2017, only 36 percent of Basic Education Council schools met standards. Many lacked basic facilities like toilets, drinking water, and electricity. Operation Kavakalp was launched to address these issues. Public representatives, officials, and entrepreneurs contributed to facility upgrades.
School Facility Upgrades
Improvements included separate toilets for boys and girls. Safe drinking water systems were installed. Smart classrooms and digital libraries were introduced. The government also provided free uniforms, bags, and textbooks. Efforts focused on improving the student-teacher ratio.
These efforts increased school standards. Over five years, facility saturation reached over 96 percent . This data comes from the Chief Minister's office.
Enrollment Growth and Dropout Reduction
School education progress shows clear results. Over nine years, Basic Education enrollment rose by over six million students. The dropout rate decreased sharply. It fell from 19-20 percent to 3-4 percent.
Focus on Re-enrollment
The second phase targets identifying and re-enrolling dropout students. Parent awareness campaigns are also a key component. School management committees and local communities will participate. Public representatives will play an active role.
During the launch at CM Model Composite School in Ismailpur village, Adityanath distributed educational materials. These included textbooks, school bags, and stationery. He also honored a top-performing headmaster. The campaign's ultimate goal is to connect every child with school. It aims to ensure quality education reaches all eligible students.
