Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel urged teachers in government engineering colleges to improve teaching quality. Patel, who is also the Chancellor of APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), spoke at the university's convocation on Tuesday. She stated that government colleges admit top-ranking students but often lag behind private institutions in academic awards.

Patel noted that 33 students from AKTU and government colleges received medals. In contrast, 49 medals went to students from private colleges affiliated with the university. She pointed out that government colleges offer lower fees. This aims to help bright students from less affluent families access technical education.

The Governor called for faculty to prioritize classroom instruction. She emphasized that improving the overall quality of education will help students achieve their full potential.

Education and Technology's Role

Governor Patel highlighted the growing impact of artificial intelligence (AI), data science, machine learning, and robotics. These technologies are transforming industries and job markets. She encouraged the use of technology for innovation and productivity.

She also stressed technology's role in preserving Indian languages, culture, and heritage. Patel asked students to apply AI for social welfare initiatives. She also suggested using it for cultural heritage conservation and practical problem-solving.

The Governor stated India is transitioning from a technology consumer to a creator. This is evident in advancements in defense systems, clean energy, and emerging technologies.

Convocation Highlights

The convocation ceremony awarded degrees to 62,537 students. It also presented 84 medals.

During the event, 340 Anganwadi kits were distributed. Additionally, 935 girls received HPV vaccinations.
