The Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP) will draft a State Curriculum Framework (SCF) for classes 9 through 12. This framework will implement the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) 2023 across the state. Changes will affect teaching methods, learning approaches, and student assessment. The Union Ministry of Education approved the budget for this initiative on June 10, 2024 , as part of the academic session 2026-27. The proposal came from Samagra Shiksha, Lucknow.
New Framework Implementation
Over 29,000 schools affiliated with the UP Board will adopt the revised curriculum. UP Board Secretary Bhagwati Singh stated the SCF will guide curriculum planning, classroom instruction, and student evaluation. This aligns with the NCF 2023 vision. The goal is to make teaching and learning more relevant, effective, and student-centered.
SCF Preparation Underway
The UP Board began preparing the SCF on July 6, 2024 . A workshop took place at the UP Board headquarters. Additional Secretary (Textbooks) Skand Shukla confirmed more workshops will follow. Experts, educators, and academicians from Uttar Pradesh are contributing. They are developing a curriculum reflecting national priorities and regional needs.
Curriculum Content and Focus
The SCF will incorporate the Indian Knowledge System. This aims to integrate India's intellectual and cultural heritage into classroom learning. The curriculum will emphasize meaningful learning over rote memorization. Key skills like problem-solving, critical thinking, and innovation will be prioritized. Education will connect to local languages, culture, and daily life. This approach promotes inclusive learning for all students.
The SCF 2023 supports objectives from NCF-2023 and the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. These include fostering holistic development and preparing students for future challenges.
