The Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP) has announced important dates for Class 10 and 12 students for the 2026 board exams. Currently, pre-board exams are being held. These will be followed by practical exams and then the main board exams, scheduled from February 18 to March 12, 2026. Attending all these exams is compulsory. Missing any without a valid reason may affect a student's eligibility for the final board examinations.

UP Pre-Board Exams 2026 Underway

The UP pre-board exams for Class 10 and Class 12 began on January 8, 2026, and will conclude on January 21, 2026. Schools are conducting these exams to help students prepare for the main UPMSP board exams. Pre-boards help students check their readiness and understand areas for improvement. Each school decides the specific timings for different subjects.

Attendance at pre-board exams is mandatory. UPMSP has stated that absence without a valid reason may lead to a student becoming ineligible for the final UP board exams 2026. Students must follow their school's pre-board timetable carefully.

UPMSP Practical Exam Dates 2026

UPMSP has released the schedule for practical exams for both classes. For Class 12 students, practical exams will take place in two phases:

PhaseDates
Phase 1January 24 to February 1, 2026
Phase 2February 2 to February 9, 2026

Note that no practical exams will be held on January 29 and January 30, 2026, due to the UP Teacher Eligibility Exam. These practical exams are conducted at the school level and include viva voce (oral tests), project work, assessments, and laboratory experiments.

Class 10 Practical Exams

For Class 10 students, practical exams and internal assessments for subjects like science project work are also held at the school level. These are generally scheduled around late January or early February, as per the UP board exam calendar 2026.

Students must complete and properly document their project work before their practical exam dates.

Key Guidelines for All Exams

UPMSP has issued clear instructions to ensure fair and smooth conduct of all practical and pre-board exams. Students and schools must follow these rules:

  • Mandatory Attendance: All students must appear for their UP pre-board and practical exams. Absence without a valid reason can lead to ineligibility for final UP board exams 2026.
  • Conduct and Transparency: Schools must preserve practical answer sheets for at least one year for verification. UPMSP may conduct random audits. For practicals, only two batches per day are allowed, with a limit on student numbers.
  • Malpractice Prevention: Strict action will be taken against any unfair means during exams. Severe cases may involve provisions under the Uttar Pradesh Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act.

UP Board Class 10 and 12 Main Exam Dates 2026

Following the pre-boards and practicals, the main board exams for Class 10 and 12 will be conducted. The official time table was released earlier. The UP Board exams 2026 for both classes are scheduled from February 18 to March 12, 2026.

Admit cards will be distributed by schools. Private students can download their admit cards from the official UPMSP website, upmsp.edu.in, when available.
