The Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UP Board) has derecognised 465 schools across the state for failing to operate. This action targets institutions that showed no student enrollment or activity for two consecutive academic sessions: 2024-25 and 2025-26 . The UP Board Secretary, Bhagwati Singh, stated this aims to ensure only active, approved institutions continue operating.
Schools Derecognised for Non-Functionality
The derecognition follows an analysis of school data. Institutions were delisted if they did not admit students, conduct physical classes, or submit candidates for UP Board examinations for two straight years. This measure is based on Chapter VII, Regulation 11(d) of the Intermediate Education Act of 1921.
Schools removed from the list failed to meet minimum academic requirements. Key reasons include zero student admissions for the 10th and 12th grade UP Board examinations and a lack of classes held during the academic sessions.
Regional Impact of Derecognition
The Prayagraj region has the highest number of derecognised schools, with 150 institutions affected. The Varanasi region follows with 142 schools, and the Meerut region has 102 schools. The breakdown includes 306 high schools and 159 intermediate colleges. Co-educational institutions form the largest group among the delisted schools.
