The Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP) will implement significant changes to the Class 12 examination pattern starting from the 2027 academic session . The written component of all UP Board Class 12 exams will now carry 80 marks . The remaining 20 marks will be allocated to practical exams or internal assessments.
Revised Exam Structure
This shift aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework 2023. Previously, subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Home Science had a 70-mark written paper and a 30-mark practical. Non-practical subjects like Hindi, English, and Sanskrit were assessed out of 100 marks for the written exam.
Mandatory Coverage of Syllabus Units
Under the new pattern, questions will be mandatory from every unit of the UP Board Class 12 syllabus. This aims to ensure students study all chapters thoroughly. The exam design will not include external choice questions.
Shift in Question Weightage
The updated pattern emphasizes application-based questions. Experts from the State Institute of Education have developed sample papers reflecting these changes. Approximately 35% of questions will now require students to apply their knowledge.
