This initiative provides pathways for international students affected by recent UK study visa restrictions. These students are from countries with a temporary pause on visa applications. The program allows them to pursue UK higher education online. It also offers transnational learning options.
Mosaik Scholarship Program
The program is called the Mosaik Scholarship. It aims to create an alternative route to UK postgraduate degrees. Currently, 19 fully funded postgraduate places are available. Organizers plan to support approximately 50 students by the end of the year. More universities are expected to join the initiative.
Visa Restrictions Explained
The UK Home Office announced new study visa restrictions in March 2026 . These apply to students from Afghanistan, Myanmar, Sudan, and Cameroon. The government cited concerns over increased asylum claims via student visas. This pause has blocked many students from accepting campus-based scholarships and UK admissions.
The visa brake prevents students from these nations from obtaining new study visas for on-campus study. This decision impacts eligibility for scholarships like the Chevening Scholarship. It leaves affected students without a clear path to continue their education in the UK.
Addressing the Challenge
Mosaik Education established the Mosaik Scholarship. It partners with universities through its Global Response Platform. This platform connects universities with humanitarian groups. These groups support displaced and conflict-affected students. Partner organizations include UNHCR India, Prospect Burma, and Open Dreams in Cameroon.
