The UGC NET December 2025 exam answer key has been released, giving students a chance to review their performance. The National Testing Agency (NTA) published the temporary answer key on January 14, 2026. Students who appeared for the exam must note that today, January 17, 2026, is the last day to challenge any answer they believe is incorrect.

The UGC NET examination for the December 2025 session was conducted across several dates: December 31, 2025, and then on January 2, 3, 5, 6, and 7, 2026. The release of this answer key is important as it allows candidates to estimate their scores even before the final results are officially declared.

If a candidate wishes to challenge a question in the answer key, a non-refundable fee of INR 200 must be paid for each question challenged. This payment needs to be completed online through the official website.

Steps to Check and Download Your Answer Key

Candidates can easily check and download their UGC NET December 2025 provisional answer key by following these straightforward steps:

  • Visit the Official Website: Go to the official UGC NET website at ugcnet.nta.nic.in.
  • Find the Answer Key Link: On the homepage, look for and click on the link titled "UGC NET Answer Key 2025" (or similar wording for the December session).
  • Access the Login Page: A new login page will open on your screen.
  • Enter Your Details: You will need to provide your application number, your date of birth, and a security code (this is a captcha-like code shown on the screen). After entering these details, click the "Submit" button.
  • View Answer Key: The provisional answer key for the UGC NET December session will then be displayed on your screen.
  • Download and Save: It is advised to download this answer key and save it to your computer or phone. Keeping a copy will help you check your answers and refer to it later.

How to Challenge the UGC NET Provisional Answer Key

If you believe there is an error in any of the answers provided in the provisional key, you can raise an objection. Follow these steps carefully:

  • Go to the Official Website: Start by visiting the official UGC NET website: ugcnet.nta.nic.in.
  • Click on Challenge Link: Find and click on the "Challenge Answer Key" link.
  • Log In to Your Account: Enter your application number, your password (or date of birth), and the security pin shown. Then sign in.
  • Select Questions to Challenge: Once logged in, you will see an option to challenge the answer key. Here, you can select the specific question ID for which you wish to challenge the answer. You will also need to select the correct answer option ID according to your findings.
  • Save Your Claims: After marking your chosen answers for challenge, click on the button to "Save your Claims".
  • Upload Supporting Documents: This is a very important step. You must upload proper documents that support your claim. All these supporting documents need to be combined into a single PDF file before you upload them. Without proof, your challenge may not be considered.
  • Pay the Fee: Finally, click on "Save Your Claims & Pay Fee". You must pay a non-refundable fee of INR 200 for each question you have challenged. The payment has to be done online through the available payment methods.

Candidates are strongly advised to submit their challenges and payments before the January 17, 2026 deadline. No challenges will be considered after this date. The National Testing Agency will review all received challenges. After this review, the NTA will release the final answer key and subsequently, the results for the UGC NET December 2025 examination.
