The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the provisional answer keys for the University Grants Commission–National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET) December 2025 . Students who took this important exam can now check their answers on the official website, ugcnet.nta.nic.in . The exams were held from December 31, 2025 to January 7, 2026 . These answer keys are available for all 85 subjects.

UGC NET Cut-off Trends and What They Mean

These marks are decided based on several factors, such as the total number of students who appeared for the exam and how difficult the exam was for a particular subject.
Looking at the past two years' data, there have been some clear changes in cut-off marks for major subjects. For example, the cut-off marks for English saw a big increase. For students in the OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) category, the English cut-off went from 99.07 to 176 . This shows that the competition or performance in English improved significantly.
However, for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) , the cut-off marks went down in some subjects. In Economics , the required marks for the OBC–Non Creamy Layer category decreased from 198 to 184 . Similarly, for the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) in Economics, the cut-off dropped from 200 to 186 . The cut-off marks for Education subject also decreased for all reserved categories for JRF.
The NTA will announce the official UGC NET December 2025 results soon, likely in the coming weeks. At that time, the final subject-wise cut-off marks for all three categories – Junior Research Fellowship, Assistant Professor, and PhD eligibility – will also be released on the website.
