The National Testing Agency (NTA) will re-conduct the UGC NET June 2026 examinations for English, Commerce, and Sociology papers. The decision comes after the NTA received complaints regarding errors in these specific papers. A committee reviewed the issues and recommended the re-examination to ensure fairness.
Re-Exam Schedule Announced
The NTA has set new dates for the affected papers. The English paper will be held on September 9, 2026 , in Shift 1. The Commerce paper is also scheduled for September 9, 2026 , but in Shift 2. The Sociology examination will take place on September 10, 2026 , in Shift 1.

Key Guidelines for Candidates
Further information about examination cities and centers will be released on the official NTA website. Candidates taking these re-examinations will not incur any additional fees. The results for the remaining 84 subjects, for which answer key challenges were processed, will be declared as per the original schedule.
The allocation of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) seats and the issuance of e-certificates for Assistant Professor eligibility and PhD admissions for these 84 subjects will not be delayed. The number of candidates qualifying for Assistant Professor eligibility will be 6% of the total appeared candidates, using the higher count between the June 2026 exam and the retest. The allocation for JRF, Assistant Professor, and PhD for the three re-examined subjects will proceed without reducing previously allocated numbers.
