Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay will hold the UCEED 2026 examination on Sunday, January 18, 2026 . This national-level entrance exam is for students who want to join Bachelor of Design (BDes) programs. Top design institutes like IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Indore, IIT Roorkee, and IIITDM Jabalpur accept UCEED scores for admission.

UCEED stands for Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design . It is an important test for students aiming for a career in design. The exam is a computer-based test (CBT) and has objective-type questions. These questions check a candidate's skills in areas like visualization (how well you can imagine things), spatial reasoning (understanding shapes and spaces), and design sensitivity (how well you understand good design ideas).

Key Exam Schedule

Candidates appearing for UCEED 2026 must know the correct reporting and exam times. Reaching the test centre on time is very important to avoid any issues.

Important Instructions for Exam Day

To ensure a smooth exam experience, candidates must follow specific rules and guidelines at the test centre. These rules help maintain fairness and order during the examination.

Reporting to the Centre

  • Candidates must report to the exam centre at least one hour before the exam starts. This means arriving by 7:00 AM . This early reporting time allows for necessary checks, identity verification, and finding your assigned computer terminal without rush.
  • Candidates must find and go to the correct test centre. Check the address and schedule carefully on your admit card before the exam day.

Documents to Carry

  • Candidates must bring their UCEED 2026 admit card to the exam centre. This is your official permission to take the test.
  • Along with the admit card, candidates must carry an original valid identity proof. Accepted ID proofs include an Aadhar card, Passport, Driving License, or Voter ID card.
  • It is very important to carry the original identity proof. Digital copies shown on a phone or photocopies of the ID will not be accepted. Test centre staff will verify your identity. If there is any doubt about who you are, you might not be allowed to take the exam.

Rules Inside the Exam Hall

  • Candidates must stay inside the examination hall for the entire duration of the UCEED exam, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. No candidate will be allowed to leave early.
  • Invigilators (exam supervisors) and representatives from IIT will check each candidate's identity. Cooperate with them during this process.
  • It is a serious offence to try and pretend to be someone else for the exam (impersonation). Such actions will lead to immediate disqualification and legal action against the candidate.

Prohibited Items

To ensure fairness and prevent cheating, candidates are not allowed to carry certain items into the examination hall. These include:

  • Any electronic devices like mobile phones, smartphones, digital or smart watches, calculators, or tablets.
  • Abacus, slide rule, logbooks, or any type of study material.
  • Geometry box or any other similar items.

Leaving these items outside the hall or with staff is important. It is best not to bring them to the centre if possible.

Handling Technical Problems

Since Part A of the UCEED exam is computer-based, technical issues can sometimes happen. If you face any problem with your computer or the exam software during the test, follow these steps:

  • Immediately inform the invigilator present in your exam hall.
  • The invigilator will take steps to fix the problem quickly. They might try to solve the issue on your current computer or assign you a different computer terminal if needed.
  • Do not worry about losing time due to technical problems. The system is designed to automatically adjust the time. You will get the full allotted time to complete your paper, even if there is a technical issue.

Following these guidelines will help candidates have a smooth and stress-free UCEED 2026 examination experience. Remember to prepare well and arrive on time with all required documents.
