Over 200,000 candidates have registered for the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) 2026 process. The Directorate of Technical Education (DoTE) manages this single-window online admission system. It is the primary route for undergraduate engineering course enrollment in Tamil Nadu.
TNEA 2026 Registration Details
Registration opened on May 3, 2026. As of mid-May, more than 176,000 students had submitted applications. Over 100,000 applicants completed the payment process. Demand is expected to remain high for popular courses. These include Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Cyber Security, and Data Science.

Admission Criteria and Fees
Admissions are based on Class 12 marks. No separate entrance exam is required for TNEA. More than 200,000 engineering seats are available. These seats are in over 400 colleges affiliated with Anna University. The registration fee is ₹500 for General, BC, and MBC categories. SC, SCA, and ST candidates pay ₹250 .
