Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) 2026 counselling faces a potential delay. Officials are awaiting approval for the engineering admission schedule. This uncertainty stems from the National Testing Agency's (NTA) planned NEET re-examination on June 21, 2026.
Counselling Schedule Uncertain
The Directorate of Technical Education (DOTE), under the Higher Education Department, has opened applications for TNEA 2026. The application window ran from May 3 to June 5. Over 3.02 lakh students registered. More than 2.45 lakh candidates uploaded certificates.
Certificate verification is underway. However, the final counselling calendar remains unapproved. An AICTE approval is pending due to the NEET re-exam date. This conflict has created a scheduling issue.
Despite the delay in counselling approval, the TNEA 2026 rank list will be released as scheduled on June 29 . Counselling can only commence after all certificate verifications are completed.
Government to Decide on Postponement
Higher Education Minister P. Viswanathan stated the government will decide on a postponement within one to two days. He will consult with the department secretary. An announcement regarding a revised counselling timetable is expected shortly. Students and parents await official confirmation.
The TNEA 2026 process is fully online. This includes registration, fee payment, choice filling, seat allotment, and confirmation.
