Opposition lawmakers walked out of the Maharashtra Assembly today, protesting the recent leak of the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) 2026 exam paper. The walkout occurred after the exam, scheduled for June 28, was postponed. Police discovered the leaked paper during a raid in Bhiwandi, Thane. Opposition leaders accused the ruling coalition of failing to protect students' futures. They demanded an urgent meeting and a full investigation into the interstate scam. Leaders from the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition, including members of the Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and NCP (SP), protested on the steps of Vidhan Bhavan.
Assembly Disruption
Inside the Assembly, Congress Legislature Party leader Vijay Wadettiwar called for the suspension of proceedings. He cited the failure of the security system. Opposition leaders pointed to the School Education Minister, Dada Bhuse. They stated that repeated leaks have eroded trust among six lakh candidates. These candidates prepared rigorously for the test.
Opposition Demands
The opposition demanded a Special Investigation Team (SIT). This team would uncover the corporate organizations and interstate networks behind the scam. They expressed doubt about the state government's ability to conduct exams transparently. This includes both national and state-level recruitment exams. Congress legislators called for a detailed investigation. This investigation would target paper-setting and exam-conducting organizations. It would also examine their growing interstate criminal networks.
Protest and Walkout
Dissatisfaction with the minister's response led to the walkout. Before entering the legislature, lawmakers held a protest on the Vidhan Bhavan steps. Senior leader Nana Patole accused ministers of having political ties to exam scams. He called for urgent discussions in both legislative bodies.
