Tamil Nadu government schools will appoint 8,000 alumni ambassadors this month. The appointments are part of the 'Namma School Namma Ooru Palli' program. Meetings of school management committees (SMCs) on July 10 will finalize selections. These ambassadors will serve two-year terms from July 2026 to July 2028.
Ambassador Roles and Objectives
The program aims to boost community involvement in government schools. Ambassadors will work to increase student enrollment. They will also focus on reducing dropout rates. Mentoring students for higher studies is another key goal. The initiative also seeks CSR contributions from alumni. These funds will improve school infrastructure. Ambassadors will coordinate agencies for better community engagement.
The 'Namma School Namma Ooru Palli' portal shows 26,221 alumni have registered. They expressed willingness to serve as ambassadors. This network will support 8,209 high and higher secondary government schools.
