A student has gained admission to Stanford University despite a low score on the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE). Justin Sato shared his admission to Stanford, Caltech, and Princeton on LinkedIn.
Admission to Top Universities
Sato reported a score of 53 out of 360 on the JEE. This represents 15% of the total marks. The JEE is a highly competitive exam for engineering admissions in India. Over 10 lakh students registered for the exam this year.
IITs, a major outcome of JEE, have acceptance rates below 1%. Sato's post highlighted his success in gaining admission to top international universities for physics.
Sato's Academic and Professional Background
Sato is currently studying a Bachelor of Arts in Physics at Stanford University. His coursework includes mathematics, physics, and computer science. He previously attended California State University, Dominguez Hills.
He is also a co-founder of Skarmy. Skarmy is a software development company based in San Francisco.
Talent in India
Sato commented on the high concentration of technical talent in India. He cited the prevalence of Indian-born leaders in major technology companies. He mentioned Google, Microsoft, and Mastercard as examples.
His startup, Skarmy, is relocating its operations to India. This move is attributed to the density of technical talent available in the country.
