Understanding SSC GD Cut-Off Marks

Along with the results, SSC will also release the cut-off marks for the GD Constable exam. The cut-off marks are the minimum scores candidates needed to qualify for the posts. These cut-offs are different for male and female candidates and vary by category (such as General, OBC, SC, ST, EWS). The cut-offs also depend on the specific force and state a candidate applied for. For example, cut-off for Border Security Force (BSF) in Uttar Pradesh might be different from Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) in Maharashtra.

The final cut-off marks are decided based on the Computer-Based Exam (CBE), Physical Efficiency Test (PET), Physical Standard Test (PST), and Medical Examination. Factors like the difficulty of the exam, the number of available vacancies, and candidates' performance are all considered. Some expected cut-off ranges shared for different categories are:

CategoryExpected Cut-Off Range
General (UR) 140 to 150
Other Backward Class (OBC) 135 to 147
Economically Weaker Section (EWS) 130 to 148

Please remember, these are just expected ranges and the official cut-offs will be announced by SSC.

How the Merit List is Prepared

The final list of selected candidates, also known as the merit list, is created after a thorough process. It considers marks from different stages of the recruitment:

  1. Computer-Based Exam (CBE): This is the main written test.
  2. Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Physical Standard Test (PST): These tests check candidates' physical fitness.
  3. Medical Examination: A medical check-up to ensure candidates are fit for duty.

The final scores include marks from the Computer-Based Exam, along with any bonus marks for NCC (National Cadet Corps) certificate holders. Candidates must clear all these stages and meet the cut-off marks for their specific force and category to be included in the merit list.
