The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) will soon announce the results for the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Tier 1 Exam 2025. Students who took this exam can expect the results in December 2025 . The results will be available on the official SSC website, which is ssc.gov.in .
This result will come out as a PDF document . This PDF will list the names and roll numbers of all students who have passed Tier 1. These qualified students will then be eligible to appear for the next stage, which is the Tier 2 examination. Along with the merit list, SSC will also release the cutoff marks for different categories. These cutoff marks show the minimum scores needed to move to Tier 2.
Minimum Marks to Qualify Tier 1
To pass the SSC CGL Tier 1 Exam 2025, students need to score at least these minimum marks. These percentages are different for various categories:
| Category | Minimum Qualifying Marks |
| General | 30% |
| UR | 30% |
| OBC | 25% |
| EWS | 25% |
| SC | 20% |
| ST | 20% |
| PwD | 20% |
Students must remember that these are only the basic passing marks. The actual cutoff scores for selecting candidates for the Tier 2 exam are usually much higher. Many factors affect the final cutoff marks. These include how difficult the exam was, the total number of job openings (vacancies), and how well all students performed in the exam. The cutoff marks can also be different for various job posts. SSC uses a method called normalization to ensure fair scoring across different exam shifts.
What Happens After Tier 1 Result?
Students whose roll numbers appear in the Tier 1 merit list PDF will be allowed to take the Tier 2 examination. Here are the steps that follow:
Tier 2 Examination
- The Tier 2 exam is expected to be held in January or February 2026 .
- This is a very important stage. Your performance in Tier 2 will mostly decide if you get selected for a job.
- The Tier 2 exam will have different papers. These papers will test students' knowledge in specific subjects and skills needed for different job roles.
Document Verification
- Students who successfully clear the Tier 2 exam will be called for document verification.
- At this stage, all your important documents will be checked. This includes your educational certificates, identity proof, category certificates (like OBC, SC, ST), and any other relevant papers.
Medical Examination
- After document verification, students must go through a medical fitness test.
- This test checks if you are physically and medically fit for the job you have applied for, according to the official standards.
Final Merit List
- The final list of selected students (final merit list) will be made based only on your performance in the Tier 2 exam .
- The marks you get in the Tier 1 exam are only for qualifying. They will not be added to your final score or ranking for job selection.
