Indian students can now apply for fully funded scholarships in Romania for the 2026-27 academic year. The Romanian government announced these scholarships through the India-Romania Cultural Exchange Programme.
The program offers study and research opportunities at Bachelor, Master, and PhD levels. It also includes short-term research and summer courses focused on Romanian culture.
Scholarships cover tuition fees, enrollment costs, and a monthly stipend. Students may also receive dormitory support up to subsidy limits and emergency medical assistance.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must be Indian nationals with a strong academic record. All candidates require a Romanian language certificate. PhD applicants need research proposals that align with Romanian academic interests.
The scholarships are for short-term study or research, not full degree programs. The maximum duration for any student is 10 months.
Application Process and Timeline
Applications open on April 15, 2026 , and close on May 15, 2026 . The funding supports up to 20 months of study or research for selected candidates.
Two slots are reserved for summer courses. Applicants must submit their proposals through India's SAKSHAT portal at proposalsakshat.samarth.edu.in/romania.
Completed applications must also be sent as email attachments to the Embassy of Romania.
