Rajasthan government officials have issued new rules for visitors entering state-run schools. Visitors now need permission from the school principal before entering. This change follows an announcement by Cockroach Jantar Party (CJP) co-convenor Ashutosh Ranka. Ranka plans to inspect government schools across multiple districts.

New Entry Restrictions

Principals can deny entry to anyone whose presence might disrupt school security or academics. Unauthorized photography, videography, interviews, or recordings are also prohibited. These activities require explicit principal approval. Visitors must not enter classrooms, labs, or playgrounds without a school official. The rules aim to ensure a safe environment for students.

Rules for Visitors

Visitors are forbidden from collecting student personal information. They cannot publish student images or identities without written consent from the principal. These regulations are based on India's right to privacy under Article 21 of the Constitution. They also align with the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights guidelines. The School Safety Policy also informs these new measures.

Enforcement Actions

Anyone entering school property without prior permission may be asked to leave. Refusal to leave can result in further action. Individuals taking unauthorized photos or videos may also face consequences. The directive was issued by Lalit Kumar, Director of Secondary Education, Rajasthan.

Background to the Changes

Ashutosh Ranka announced his planned school inspections on X, formerly Twitter, on August 16. He asked the public to report schools needing attention. Ranka stated he received calls about the condition of some schools. His inspections are intended to address these concerns.

  • Photography and recording require principal approval.
