The Rajasthan Madhyamik Shiksha Board has announced a big change for students. From the next academic session , board examinations will be held twice a year . Rajasthan Education Minister Madan Dilawar shared this news, stating that the new system aims to give students more opportunities to perform well and reduce their exam pressure.

Minister Dilawar posted about this initiative on social media, calling it a historic step for school education reform in the state. He confirmed that the examinations conducted by the Rajasthan Secondary Education Board will now take place two times annually.

How the New Exam System Will Work

This new exam pattern is designed to benefit students by offering more flexibility. Here are the key details of how the twice-a-year board exams will function:

  • The first examination will be compulsory for all students. Every student must appear for this exam.
  • After the first exam, students who have passed can choose to take a second examination if they wish to improve their marks in certain subjects.
  • Students who receive a supplementary result (meaning they did not pass some subjects) in the first exam can also use the second examination as another chance to clear those subjects.
  • A student can take the second exam in a maximum of three subjects to try and get better scores.
  • Both the first and second examinations will cover the entire syllabus for the academic year. There will be no reduction in course material for either exam.
  • For the final result, the board will consider the best scores obtained by the student in each subject across both examinations. This means if a student scores higher in a subject in the second attempt, that higher score will be counted.

Benefits for Students

The introduction of two board exams annually comes with several advantages for students in Rajasthan:

  • Reduced Exam Stress: Students often face high pressure when their entire year's performance depends on a single examination. Having a second chance can greatly reduce this stress, allowing them to approach exams with a calmer mind.
  • More Chances to Excel: If a student does not perform well in the first exam due to illness, stress, or other reasons, they get another clear opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and improve their grades.
  • Better Academic Results: By allowing students to improve their scores, the new system aims to help them achieve higher overall academic results, which can be beneficial for their future studies and career paths.
  • Focus on Learning: With less pressure on a single event, students can focus more on understanding concepts rather than just memorizing for one high-stakes test.

Similar to CBSE's Plan

This change in Rajasthan aligns with a similar reform announced by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) . CBSE will also introduce two sets of Class 10 board examinations starting from the year 2026 . This shows a growing understanding among education boards about the need to make assessment systems more student-friendly and less burdensome.

Next Steps and Official Guidelines

The education department will soon release full and detailed guidelines about this new examination system. These guidelines will provide all the necessary information regarding exam dates, application procedures, and other important rules for students, parents, and schools. Students are advised to regularly check official updates from the Rajasthan Madhyamik Shiksha Board for these details to stay informed.

This new approach is a significant step towards a more supportive and effective education system for students in Rajasthan.
