PSEB Launches New Entrepreneurship Course for Punjab Students

The Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) has started a new entrepreneurship course for students in Class 11 and Class 12. This important two-year program will teach young people how to build their own businesses and create jobs for others. The course aims to give students practical knowledge and skills for innovation and to prepare them for future careers.

This new subject will be a compulsory part of the curriculum for all 3,692 senior secondary schools across the state of Punjab. Starting from the academic session 2026-27 , more than 5.6 lakh students are expected to gain benefits from this subject. The main goal of introducing this course is to encourage students to become job creators rather than just job seekers.

  • Developing Business Ideas: Students will learn how to identify opportunities, come up with new business concepts, and develop them into viable plans.
  • Understanding Legal Rules: The course will teach about the necessary legal and regulatory processes involved in setting up and operating a business in India. This includes topics like registration and compliance.
  • Managing Money and Budgets: Students will gain knowledge in basic finance, including how to create budgets, manage funds, and understand the financial aspects of running a business.
  • Planning a Startup: Practical steps for planning a new venture, from market research to developing a business model, will be covered to help students launch their own companies.

This practical training is designed to prepare students for real-world challenges and opportunities in the dynamic business environment. It will help them build confidence and a strong foundation for their entrepreneurial journey.

Teacher Training for Effective Learning

To make sure the new entrepreneurship course is taught effectively, the PSEB has carried out extensive training for teachers. A total of 10,382 teachers have been specially trained to deliver this curriculum. Additionally, 231 master-trainers were also trained to guide these teachers. These training sessions were conducted through 104 different programs, ensuring that educators are well-prepared to teach the subject and inspire young entrepreneurs.
