A parliamentary panel will meet on July 1 to discuss the NEET UG re-examination, reforms for the National Testing Agency (NTA), and student employability. The meeting will include top officials from the Ministry of Education and the NTA. It takes place at the Parliament House Annexe Extension in New Delhi.
NEET UG Re-examination Learnings
Abhishek Singh, Director General of the NTA, will review the NEET UG re-examination process. The exam was re-conducted on June 21 due to a paper leak. Singh implemented measures for the re-exam. These included using the Indian Air Force for paper transport. Four-level CCTV surveillance was also used.
NTA Reforms and Expert Review
K. Radhakrishnan will review reforms to strengthen the NTA. Radhakrishnan is a former Secretary of the Department of Space. He also served as former Chairman of ISRO. Vineet Joshi from the Department of Higher Education will also attend.
Student Employability Strategies
The panel will examine strategies for maximizing student employability. Experts will review the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on education. Participants include T.G. Sitharam and Arun C. Mehta. Sitharam is the former Chairman of AICTE. Mehta is the former Head of Department at NIEPA.
Background of NEET UG Issue
The original NEET UG exam was scheduled for May 3 . It was postponed after an alleged paper leak. Investigations pointed to Maharashtra as the origin of the leak. The leak reportedly spread to Kota, Rajasthan. Kota is a major coaching center.
