Over 2 Lakh Students Worldwide, 6,083 from India, Receive IB Diploma and Career-related Programme Results for May 2025

The International Baccalaureate (IB) has released the results for its May 2025 Diploma Programme (DP) and Career-related Programme (CP), with 202,103 students globally — including 6,083 from India — receiving their outcomes. This marks a 4.8% rise in global participation compared to last year, signaling growing interest in the IB's rigorous, internationally recognized qualifications.

The average global score for the Diploma Programme this year stood at 30.58 points, reinforcing the consistency of performance in one of the world’s most respected pre-university programmes.

The IB Board acknowledged students’ commitment over the two-year DP and CP journey, emphasizing the skills, global awareness, and academic depth they have developed. With the release of these results, graduates become part of a growing global network of over 2.7 million IB alumni spanning 157 countries.

IB Director General Olli-Pekka Heinonen commended students for their determination and empathy during their academic journey. "IB graduates leave with not just knowledge but the perspective and purpose to lead and shape a better world," he noted.

IB in India and Asia-Pacific

India continues to see steady growth in the adoption of IB programmes. Currently, 177 IB World Schools in India offer the DP, and 41 institutions offer the CP, which integrates academic learning with career-focused education for students aged 16 to 19.

Across the Asia-Pacific region, the DP is available in 795 schools, and its focus on critical thinking, intercultural understanding, and academic excellence continues to make it an attractive option. The IB programme aligns with local systems and surpasses many national standards — a fact acknowledged in 2023 curriculum alignment studies in countries such as Singapore, South Korea, and Australia.

A 2021 research report also found that IB students, particularly those enrolled in DP and CP, demonstrate significantly greater global-mindedness compared to their non-IB peers — a key trait in today's interconnected world.

Assessments and Upcoming Bulletin

For the May 2025 session, students completed all assessment components, including final examinations and coursework. The IB confirmed that grades were awarded based on students’ full performance, reflecting the organization’s high standards and commitment to fairness.

An interim statistical bulletin featuring further insights and breakdowns of the results is expected to be released in the coming days.
