Another incorrectly placed Odisha’s Niyamgiri Hills in Jharkhand. Maharana called for an investigation into the errors. He also urged the government to correct the books swiftly. Revised copies are needed for students.
Government Response and Opposition Criticism
School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond acknowledged the issue. He stated the department is addressing the problems. Gond mentioned that newly prepared textbooks might contain printing mistakes. The opposition Biju Janata Dal (BJD) criticized the government. Party spokesperson Lenin Mohanty called the textbooks a national embarrassment. He argued the errors damage the Odia language and culture. The BJD demands immediate withdrawal of defective books. They also want a high-level inquiry.
