Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has announced a significant boost in scholarship amounts for both pre-matric and post-matric students across the state. The decision, aimed at expanding educational access and easing financial burdens, was unveiled during a district-level event in Nuapada on Monday.
According to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), the state’s flagship education initiatives — Mukhyamantri Medhabruti Yojana and Anwesha Yojana — will now offer enhanced financial assistance to thousands of beneficiaries.
Under the revised structure, the pre-matric scholarship for students under the Mukhyamantri Medhabruti Yojana has been increased from ₹10,500 to ₹16,000 per student. Similarly, financial aid provided through the Anwesha Yojana, which supports students from economically weaker backgrounds, has been raised from ₹11,000 to ₹17,000.
For Odisha CHSE post-matric students, the annual payout will now stand at ₹16,000 for male students and ₹17,000 for female students, reflecting a small but meaningful step toward promoting gender equity in education funding.
Addressing the gathering, CM Majhi emphasized the government’s long-term vision for educational development. “Education is the root of development, and our government is committed to ensuring equal learning opportunities for every child, irrespective of their background,” he said.
The Chief Minister added that the enhanced scholarships would help reduce financial stress for aspiring college students and encourage more youth to continue higher studies.
In an official post on X (formerly Twitter), the CMO stated: “The enhanced financial assistance will help thousands of meritorious students in Odisha pursue quality education without financial barriers.”
The move underscores the state government’s continued push to strengthen educational infrastructure and student welfare, particularly for low-income and meritorious learners across Odisha.
