The Odisha government has launched a monthly stipend program for postgraduate and PhD students at the Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT). The new policy took effect following an announcement on August 3, 2026.
This initiative targets all regular students pursuing Agriculture and allied subjects at OUAT. The decision aims to support student research and innovation.
Stipend Amounts Announced
Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Empowerment, Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, confirmed the stipend amounts. He announced the policy via the social media platform 'X', formerly Twitter.
Postgraduate students will receive a monthly stipend of ₹10,000. PhD researchers will receive a higher amount of ₹15,000 per month.

The government stated the program aims to empower young researchers. It also seeks to encourage quality innovation in agriculture. The initiative is intended to secure the future of farmers in Odisha. Officials believe investing in students supports agricultural transformation.
