Odisha's Medical Postgraduate (PG) examination is under scrutiny. Photographs of the General Surgery MD/MS question paper were reportedly circulated on WhatsApp during the exam on July 27, 2026 . The circulation occurred for the 2023-26 batch.
Exam Under Investigation
The incident has raised concerns, particularly following a recent NEET UG paper leak. Officials confirmed that images of the question paper were shared through WhatsApp groups. Some students also reported that answers were transmitted via phone numbers during the examination.
Students from a private medical college in Bhubaneswar alerted authorities. They stated they received question paper photographs from a WhatsApp group. This group was allegedly managed by a student from MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur.
Authorities Respond
In response, a complete ban on mobile phones and electronic devices at exam centers has been enforced. An inquiry is underway to identify members of the WhatsApp group. Odisha University of Health Sciences Vice Chancellor Manas Ranjan Sahoo met virtually with medical college principals on July 27, 2026. They discussed strengthening security for upcoming exams.
Harekrushna Dalai, Dean-cum-Principal of MKCG Medical College and Hospital, commented on the incident. He stated it should not be termed a leak. He noted the paper was allegedly circulated after the exam started. Dalai expressed surprise over how images were captured and shared, as mobile phones are prohibited inside exam halls. An internal investigation is examining the device used for circulation.
