Odisha Gyanodaya Scheme: Free KG-PG Education Launched

Odisha's Higher Education Department has launched the Gyanodaya Scheme. This initiative provides free education from Kindergarten to Post-Graduation. Minister Suryabanshi Suraj announced the program's guidelines on [Insert Date of Launch]. The state aims to address rising dropout rates and low Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER).

Gyanodaya Scheme Details

The scheme targets students facing financial barriers to higher education. Guidelines are being distributed to all state-recognized educational institutions. The goal is to ensure all citizens have access to higher learning opportunities. The government identified these issues shortly after taking office.

How to Apply

Students must apply online through the SAMS Odisha portal. The application process involves selecting a course and eligible institution. Applicants will fill out a form and upload required documents. Applications must be submitted before the specified deadline.

Admission into eligible institutions under this scheme will be free. No admission fees will be collected from students.

Eligibility Criteria

Key eligibility requirements include a mandatory attendance percentage. Students need at least 75% attendance. This can be reduced to 65% for documented medical or special reasons.

The scheme is only for students enrolled in regular mode courses. Distance learning or self-finance programs are ineligible. Admission must be secured through the SAMS portal .

Eligible institutions are state public universities, state public colleges, and non-government aided colleges under grant-in-aid 488 and 662. Private unaided colleges and public-private partnership colleges are excluded.

The fee waiver is a once-in-a-lifetime benefit. It applies to a student's first admission into an Undergraduate (UG) or Post-Graduate (PG) program.

Excluded Courses

The Gyanodaya Scheme covers general education streams. It does not apply to professional education courses. This includes programs like MBA, MCA, BBA, BCA, B.Ed, and LLB.
