The National Testing Agency (NTA) has clarified its ₹200 fee per answer key challenge . Officials stated the charge aims to deter unsubstantiated objections, not generate revenue. The agency released the explanation late Thursday, addressing widespread candidate concerns.

Fee Explained: Filter, Not Penalty

NTA officials explained the fee acts as a filter. It encourages candidates to submit only well-founded objections. This process prevents delays in result preparation caused by numerous weak claims. The agency emphasized that the fee is not punitive.

If subject matter experts validate an objection, the ₹200 fee is refunded. This makes the charge a safeguard, according to NTA. The goal is to balance efficiency with accuracy in the review process.

Benefit for All Candidates

NTA highlighted that a successful challenge benefits all exam participants. If an expert agrees a question is flawed, the answer key is revised. This corrected key applies to every candidate who took the exam. A single valid objection can impact the results for thousands.

This system ensures fairness. Even students who did not file an objection can see their scores adjusted based on a legitimate challenge. NTA maintains the fee structure supports this fair review mechanism.
