The National Medical Commission (NMC) has approved 150 additional MBBS seats for medical colleges in Andhra Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir. These new seats will be available starting the 2026-2027 academic year .
Jammu and Kashmir Gains 50 Seats
The Government Medical College (GMC) in Srinagar will add 50 MBBS seats . This brings its total capacity to 250 seats for the 2026-2027 session. The NMC's Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) issued the approval. This decision follows a thorough evaluation under the Undergraduate Medical Education Standards Regulations (UGMSR), 2023. Last year, GMC Srinagar received approval for 20 additional seats.
Andhra Pradesh Adds 100 Seats
Andhra Pradesh will see an increase of 100 MBBS seats across two government medical colleges. The Kadapa Government Medical College will receive an additional 75 seats . The Nellore ACSR Government Medical College will add 25 seats . This expansion begins in the 2026-2027 academic year .
