The National Testing Agency (NTA) is reviewing complaints regarding errors in the NIFT 2026 Stage 2 results. The agency released the final scores on June 3rd. Students report significant discrepancies in their scorecards.
Student Outrage Over Marking Errors
Students have voiced anger on social media platforms. They cite issues with score calculations. Some claim attendance was not recorded correctly. Others report verification process failures on exam day.
Several students who attended the exam were marked as absent. Conversely, some absent students were marked present. These students received high scores. Many candidates also reported a lack of mandatory fingerprint verification.
Core Discrepancies Identified
Candidates claim their attendance status is incorrect. Many participants in the Situation Test on April 26 were marked absent. Evidence suggests students who did not take the test were marked present and scored well.
Discrepancies were also noted between manually checked answer papers and the NTA's official keys for the General Ability Test (GAT). The Situation Test also showed unusual scoring patterns. A high number of students scored under 10 out of 30. This occurred despite strong expected performances.
Identity verification was reportedly missing at urban centers. Students in Mumbai and Kolkata reported no fingerprint or thumbprint checks by invigilators.
NTA Response and Counseling Impact
NTA officials have acknowledged the anomalies. They stated that student claims are under review. The errors could delay the NIFT counseling process nationwide.
The NIFT information bulletin does not detail manual re-evaluation rules. However, sources close to the NTA indicate a grievance redressal process has begun. The timing of these errors complicates the upcoming academic year arrangements. Online counseling for undergraduate and postgraduate programs is scheduled to start this month. Students are calling for a thorough review of the merit lists.
