The National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) has started its O/A/B/C Levels (January 2026) theory examinations today, January 10, 2026 . These important computer certification exams will run until January 18, 2026 . All theory papers will be held on computers, known as a computer-based test (CBT), at various official NIELIT exam centres across India.

These examinations are key for students who want a career in Information Technology (IT) and electronics. Many students across India take these exams to get certified in different computer skills. Knowing the exam schedule and rules is very important for a good exam experience.

Exam Dates for All Levels

The NIELIT January 2026 cycle includes different levels of computer courses. Students must check the specific dates for their course carefully. The O Level is a basic computer course, while A, B, and C Levels are more advanced.

Exam Level Theory Exam Dates
A, B, and C Levels January 10, 2026 – January 14, 2026
O Level and CHMT-O Level January 10, 2026 – January 18, 2026

As per this schedule, the A, B, and C Level exams will end earlier on January 14 . The O Level and CHMT-O Level exams will continue for a few more days, finishing on January 18 . Make sure you know your exact paper dates to avoid any problems.

Your Admit Card: A Must-Have

Every student must bring their admit card to the exam centre. This card is your entry pass and contains all your personal exam details. Students must check their admit cards very carefully. Your admit card has important information such as:

  • Your specific exam date
  • The paper code for your subject
  • The time you need to report to the centre
  • The full address of your assigned exam centre

Checking these details before the exam day helps avoid last-minute stress or mistakes. Ensure your name and photo on the admit card are correct. NIELIT assigns exam centres based on the choices you made when you registered.

Exam Timings Each Day

The NIELIT theory exams will happen in two shifts every day. Students must know their assigned shift to reach the centre on time.

  • Morning Session (Forenoon - FN): The exam starts at 9:30 AM and finishes at 12:30 PM .
  • Afternoon Session (Afternoon - AN): The exam starts at 2:00 PM and finishes at 5:00 PM .

Each exam session is 3 hours long. Plan your travel to the exam centre to arrive well before your session begins.

Important Rules for the Exam Centre

To ensure a fair and smooth examination, NIELIT has strict rules for all exam centres. Students must follow these guidelines carefully:

  • Arrive Early: You must reach your exam centre at least 30 minutes before your session begins. This time is used for important checks like verifying your documents and taking your fingerprints (biometric scanning).
  • Required Documents: You must show your printed admit card and an original, valid photo ID . Examples of accepted photo IDs are Aadhaar Card, Voter ID, or PAN Card. Without these two documents, you will not be allowed to enter the exam hall. Keep them ready in advance.
  • Banned Items: Mobile phones, all types of electronic gadgets (like smartwatches, calculators, Bluetooth devices), and any study materials or notes are strictly not allowed inside the examination hall. Carrying any of these items can lead to you being disqualified from the exam.

Following these rules will help make sure the exam process is smooth and fair for everyone. We wish all students the very best for their NIELIT January 2026 examinations.
