The Central Government is exploring the use of the Indian Air Force (IAF) for secure transportation of question papers for the NEET UG re-examination. This measure aims to prevent future leaks and ensure the integrity of the test scheduled for June 21 .

The consideration follows a high-level meeting. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, and Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia attended. The meeting discussed strengthening the logistics chain. This chain failed during the initial NEET UG exam on May 3, 2026 , leading to its cancellation.

Security Overhaul for Re-Exam

A policy of zero-trust is under discussion. Question papers may be held in defence custody until the exam morning. The National Testing Agency (NTA) plans to increase surveillance at distribution centers. Unauthorized access to papers will be prevented.

The final decision requires Prime Minister approval. The involvement of the Ministry of Defence signals the seriousness of the matter. The government treats the exam's security as a national security issue.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is investigating the leak. Approximately 13 arrests have been made. Protests continue across the country. The Supreme Court is hearing petitions on NTA's systemic failures.

The government aims to restore student trust. Military-grade logistics are being considered. This ensures a fair testing environment for the re-examination.

Background of the NEET UG Leak

The original NEET UG exam occurred on May 3, 2026 . The paper leak was reported on May 7, 2026 . The NTA canceled the exam on May 12, 2026 .

The leak was an interstate scheme. It involved an insider network of coaching centers. The epicenter was identified in Sikar, Rajasthan. The Rajasthan Special Operation Groups traced the leak there. A guess paper matched nearly 150 out of 180 questions.

This paper circulated a week before the exam. The distribution network used Telegram hubs. Solver gangs in Patna profited from the leak. The technical source was traced to NTA-contracted experts in Pune and Latur.

The Center now considers IAF-led logistics. This aims to eliminate risks associated with civilian transport. The goal is to prevent any further security breaches.
