Aryan Gupta secured the top rank in the NEET UG 2026 exam. The National Testing Agency announced the results on July 16, 2026 . Gupta, from Punjab, achieved 715 out of 720 marks. He will join AIIMS Delhi.

Panshul Bansal from Haryana also scored 715 marks. Gupta received All India Rank (AIR) 1 due to tie-breaking rules. Bansal was awarded AIR 2. Both candidates met the cutoff marks. Many students took the exam nationwide.
Gupta's Motivation
Gupta aims to become an oncologist. His mother died from cancer. This happened when he was in Class 3. His grandmother also died from cancer. He made a pledge then.
Gupta stated his goal to PTI. "I want to become an Oncologist," he said. "I was in third standard, then I had taken a pledge." He found the achievement surreal. He feels happy about the results. His family is also happy.
Study Habits
Gupta studied 16-17 hours daily at times. He experienced many sleepless nights. This hard work paid off. He follows his teachers' advice. His father is a doctor. His mother is also a doctor. His elder brother is pursuing MBBS. His brother secured AIR 54 last year.
Family Background
Gupta's father expressed pride. "This year my younger son has secured Rank 1," he told ANI. "Last year my elder son secured Rank 54." The family is in the medical field. Both children chose medicine.
Public Reaction
Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal congratulated Gupta. He posted on X. Kejriwal stated Gupta made Punjab proud. He called Gupta an inspiration to students. "Congratulations Aryan for topping the NEET-UG exam," Kejriwal wrote. He also congratulated other high-scoring students. He encouraged those who did not perform well. He expressed confidence in their future success.
