The National Testing Agency (NTA) confirmed the successful conduct of the NEET UG 2026 re-examination on June 21, 2026 . Over 2 million students participated in the exam held across 5,440 centers nationwide and 14 international locations.
Exam Details and Participation
The re-examination was administered in a single shift, from 2 PM to 5:15 PM. Candidates across India and abroad took the exam in 13 languages , including Hindi and English. The NTA reported extensive arrangements for all students.
More than 10,000 students with disabilities received special accommodations. Additionally, approximately 81 candidates with medical conditions , including a student recovering from a road accident and another undergoing chemotherapy, were supported to take the exam.
Security and Verification Measures
The NTA implemented robust security protocols at all exam centers. Measures included Aadhaar-based biometric and face authentication. CCTV monitoring was operational across centers. Jammers and two-layer frisking, with state police assistance, were also in place.
Command and control centers monitored CCTV feeds nationally. These centers were established at the NTA and the Ministry of Education. Monitoring also occurred at 34 Centrally Funded Institutions, in every state, and at District Collectorates.
Collaborative Effort for Smooth Conduct
The NTA acknowledged the collective effort involved in conducting the examination. Support came from various government bodies and organizations. These included CAPF, the Ministry of External Affairs, the Department of Posts, and the Indian Air Force.
Additional support was provided by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Ministry of Railways, NIC, MeitY, the Department of Financial Services, the Ministry of Defence, and the Ministry of Education. Banking partners like SBI, Canara Bank, PNB, and UCO Bank also contributed.
State governments arranged for shade, water, and food centers for students and parents. Ambulance and medical facilities were on standby. Some states offered free transportation for candidates on exam day.
Manpower and Resource Mobilization
Approximately 7 lakh officials were mobilized nationwide. This included police teams, observers, and examination staff. The entire process was completed within 37 days.
The NTA also thanked academic experts. These individuals dedicated personal time to prepare multiple sets of question papers. Their contribution was vital to the examination process.
