Delhi Police arrested four individuals and rescued 18 students in a bust of a fake MBBS admission racket. The arrests occurred hours before the NEET UG 2026 medical entrance exam. The scam targeted parents, demanding between 20 lakh and 30 lakh rupees for guaranteed medical college admissions.
NEET UG Racket Dismantled
The operation followed an intelligence tip from Surat City Police Commissioner Anupam Singh Gahlaut. Delhi Police Crime Branch conducted searches on May 2, 2026, targeting hotels in the Mahipalpur area. Investigations led police to Hotel Anand Lok Inn and subsequently a flat in Ghaziabad.
18 Students Rescued
In the Ghaziabad flat, 18 students, some of whom were minors, were found. Authorities stated the students were isolated. They were told they would receive 'important questions' for the exam. Investigators confirmed these documents were fabricated to deceive students and their guardians.
Inter-State Network Uncovered
The arrested individuals operated an organized, inter-state network. A pathology lab operator from Bihar masterminded the operation. A medical graduate allegedly created fake 'leak' papers using old study materials. An agent in Surat targeted wealthy parents in Gujarat. A logistics manager from Lucknow managed hideouts used to isolate students.
Victim Students Allowed to Testify
The 18 rescued students received professional counseling. They were considered victims of the fraud. Officials permitted them to take the NEET UG 2026 exam on May 3. Authorities aim to ensure fairness in the competitive examination.
Official Advisory Issued
The National Testing Agency (NTA) and Delhi Police issued a warning to medical aspirants. They advised ignoring claims of leaked papers on platforms like WhatsApp and Telegram. Such claims are attributed to fraudsters seeking money. Parents and students should report any agents requesting original documents or blank checks.
