NEET UG 2026 counselling registrations began on August 5, 2026 . The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) manages the process for admissions to specific undergraduate medical and dental seats.
NEET UG Counselling 2026 Details
This counselling is for 15% All India Quota seats. It also covers seats in Central Universities like Aligarh Muslim University and Banaras Hindu University. Admissions to colleges under the Employee State Insurance Corporation and Armed Forces Medical College, Pune, are also included.
A total of three counselling rounds will occur. An online stray vacancy round will follow. A spot admission round may also be conducted if seats remain available.

Counselling Process Overview
The NEET UG Counselling process is for admission to MBBS and BDS courses. The core steps include registration, choice filling, seat allotment processing, and reporting to the allotted institute.
Fee Structure for Counselling
An application fee is required during registration. Payment can be made through various modes. The fees vary depending on the institution type:
- Deemed Universities: Non-refundable Rs. 5,000; Refundable Rs. 2,00,000.
- Other Institutions (15% AIQ, Central Universities, AFMC, ESI, AIIMS, JIPMER, B.Sc. Nursing):
- Non-Refundable: Rs. 1,000 (UR/EWS), Rs. 500 (SC/ST/OBC/PwD).
- Refundable: Rs. 10,000 (UR/EWS), Rs. 5,000 (SC/ST/OBC).
UR candidates opting for Central Universities/AFMC/ESI pay an additional Rs. 10,000 during registration, totaling Rs. 11,000.
Changes in 2026 Counselling
This year, the online counselling process introduces changes for upgradation. Candidates will be categorized into 'Freeze' and 'Float' based on their willingness to upgrade.
Freeze Candidates: These candidates accept their allotted seat and must report physically to the institute. No further upgradation is possible.
Float Candidates: These candidates are willing to upgrade. They will submit their willingness for upgradation and upload documents for online verification by the allotted institute. Physical reporting is not required for verification.
