The NEET UG 2026 Round 1 choice filling has been postponed. The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) announced the change on August 6, 2026. Round 1 choice filling will now start on August 8, 2026 .
Reason for Postponement
The delay follows a notice from the National Medical Commission (NMC) on August 5. This notice concerns candidates in the Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) category. The NMC Under Graduate Medical Board (UGMEB) issued the clarification. Previous guidelines on July 27 required PwBD candidates to possess a valid Permanent Unique Disability Identity Card (UDID).
Updated PwBD Guidelines
The NMC has softened this requirement for candidates with temporary certificates. Candidates with progressive, non-progressive, or unlikely-to-improve disabilities will not be turned away solely due to a temporary UDID card or disability certificate. The Medical Assessment Board will make these determinations. This board must re-assess disability benchmarks using prescribed methods.
What Candidates Should Do
Candidates participating in the NEET 2026 counselling process should be aware of the extended choice filling window. The MCC advises all candidates to monitor the official website, mcc.ac.in , for further updates. The postponement adds two days to the choice filling schedule.
