The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is investigating a significant leak in the NEET UG 2026 examination. A whistleblower reported a document containing a complete match of the chemistry section questions just four days after the May 3, 2026 exam. The National Testing Agency (NTA) confirmed the leak internally. The NTA has referred approximately 27 individuals to the CBI. These individuals include paper setters and translators.
Leak Details and Investigation
The whistleblower sent an email to the NTA on May 7, 2026 . The email contained a PDF of the suspected leaked paper. An NTA investigation found the chemistry questions were identical. The biology section also showed partial matches.
The NTA is scrutinizing 26 to 27 individuals involved in the exam's preparation. The agency aims to maintain the integrity of the medical entrance exam.
Security Measures for Re-Exam
A re-examination is scheduled for June 21, 2026 . The NTA has implemented new security protocols. All previous question setters and translators have been replaced. This action covers Physics, Chemistry, and Biology sections.
The NTA also enhanced its leadership structure. A Chief Technology Officer (CTO) is now in place. A Chief Human Resource Officer has also been appointed. These roles will strengthen digital security for examinations.
The Education Ministry has directed District Magistrates. They will ensure strict monitoring for the June retest. These measures are intended to restore confidence among medical aspirants.
