Students encountered significant issues downloading NEET UG 2026 admit cards Wednesday due to National Testing Agency (NTA) website server problems. The portal experienced widespread outages, preventing many applicants from accessing their exam documents. The NTA cited high traffic volumes and a new two-step verification process as causes for the disruptions.
Portal Overload Causes Download Delays
The NTA launched the admit card download portal on neet.nta.nic.in. Applicants reported that the process, expected to take minutes, was instead met with constant loading screens and 503 Server Error messages. The infrastructure could not handle the simultaneous login attempts from thousands of students.
Despite the widespread issues, NTA data indicates over 100,000 students successfully downloaded their admit cards during initial access periods. These students likely logged in during less congested times.
New Verification System Adds Complexity
This year's NEET UG exam introduces a mandatory two-step verification process. This system includes bank account confirmation for fee refunds. The NTA stated this measure aims to prevent fraud and ensure refunds reach the correct accounts. However, the implementation led to significant login delays for many.
One student reported a cycle of waiting for login pages, receiving OTPs, and then facing session expirations. This forced repeated attempts to access the portal.
NTA Response and Recommendations
NTA engineers are reportedly working to increase the portal's bandwidth. They are addressing the server delays and digital traffic jams. Applicants are advised to have their bank information ready for the verification process.
For students still experiencing issues, the NTA suggests clearing browser cache. Trying to access the website in the early morning, when traffic is typically lower, is also recommended.
